One Room Challenge – Week 3

HOW IS IT ALREADY WEEK 3?!? Remember that thing I told you about? The one that said that I am really bad at anticipating how long a task will take? I was feeling so good about being on top of this project that I let it slide right out from under me! Don’t forget to check out all the other participants of the One Room Challenge here: www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog If you want to catch up from the beginning, Week 1 of my One Room Challenge can be found here. My plan for this past week was: Finish removing wallpaper adhesive Sand down ceiling texture Clean/Wipe Walls Purchase board and batten and…

  • Powder room vanity before and after. The before has cabinets and green wallpaper, the after only has a pipe coming out of the wall and no wallpaper.

One Room Challenge – Week 2

One Week of Demolition Progress For my Powder Room Remodel This week should be named “It is Going to Get Worse Before it Gets Better”. I do my best to keep my ‘construction zone’s clean and to clean between each step so that I don’t get too overwhelmed with how chaotic a renovation can be. I also have pets and if I leave the door open, I don’t want them trailing wallpaper adhesive throughout the house or to eat something dangerous. So I clean. Don’t forget to check out all the other participants of the One Room Challenge here: www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog Be sure to catch up with Week 1 of my…

One Room Challenge – Week 1

I AM READY FOR A NEW POWDER ROOM I have been looking forward to participating in the One Room Challenge since the spring when I caught the tail end of the last challenge! To learn more about the One Room Challenge and stay up to date with the other participants, check out all their posts on their site, here. SO MANY OPTIONS I wracked my brain for months and made all sorts of lists for which spaces I could do. I basically listed every room in the house and everything I wanted to do to them! Other than an expert list-maker, I am also an expert at making poor time…

Beautiful Boho DIY Cane Cabinet Makeover

TRANSFORMING A PLAIN OLD CABINET INTO A BOHO BEAUTY I’ve always wanted to have a boho cane cabinet in my space but they’re so popular and sometimes that means, expensive. Here’s the thing, I tend to love expensive things, but I can’t afford them. This is one of the biggest reasons that I love DIY. I can create the look for myself, at a price that I can afford! I worked on this project as a part of the Furniture Flip Challenge on Instagram. It was so much fun, I will probably participate every year! How to Paint Your Front Door Like a Professional

MY FRONT DOOR NEEDED A FACE LIFT SO I WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO DO YOURS TOO BEFORE My front door has been white, which is plain and uninteresting, at least on my house! The windows and trim are white, the stucco is a creamy pink color, and the shutters are black. To create a higher contrast, I decided to match the shutters and go black! For this DIY Fall Doormat, I wanted to mix it up and make a semi-circle. I know this seems counter-intuitive but I am accepting orders for the Fall doormat if you would like a completed mat. Most people don’t advise teaching people how to make something that you hope to sell, because then why would they buy it? I understand this, but I am not one to keep secrets. If you want to make the mat, go for…
